When wanting to get a tattoo there are a lot of things to think about. Tattoo ink is one of the most important things to consider outside the artist themselves, because dependent upon skin tone and design some colors are either a waste of ink or look really awful anyway. While tattoos are very personal, it is best to find what works for your skin tone. We are going to cover the different skin types and what would be more artistically beneficial in the long run.

If you have fair skin then you can use the bolder colors without them looking drab. Many people have the best idea in the world for tattoos but it doesn't translate properly based solely on their skin tone. Reds, pinks, and various shades of purple will show up brilliantly. Colors to avoid would be orange and yellow. These colors don't look good on fair skin whether it's ink or clothing. They wash you out and it's best to avoid that. Also, avoid super light colors as they aren't all that noticeable.

With medium or tan skin, there is a good amount of flexibility, too. For this skin tone, it would be best for use of oranges, greens, bright blues, and purples. They can look great with both light shades or medium shades. Bold colors and dark colors are typically not suitable for this skin color.

People with darker skin tones have to deal with trying to find the best shade that will actually show the work. Light colors are typically what show up. Find lighter shades such as pinks, blues, and white. Those who want to use dark shades of blue or red can also look good. When picking shades it is important to remember that the best inks are typically lighter than the skin tone or much, much darker.

There are many ways to get beautiful tattoo art on your body. There are also many different, original ways to make yourself look more beautiful with art all of your body or even just a little bit of the art on you. Find inspiration all around you and you can find something that will be great for your skin tone and your personality. This article may seem complex, but think of it like picking out make up colors. You wouldn't want something that isn't flattering on your skin, so once you know the colors that are good for you, you will be fine.

A tip for figuring out what the best tones would be for your skin is to use nail polish and see how it meshes with your skin. Always make sure to decide on something you know you will love forever.

Another thing to consider is safety. Always go to a licensed tattoo artist with tattoo ink that is FDA approved. Cut the risks by insuring that the needles are always new and that you are not allergic to the tattoo ink. This can insure a great experience when it comes to body modification. Be safe, be happy.

Tattoo ink information can be found all over the internet. Before you imprint your body with tattoo ink, make sure you know what you're getting into.

Some women will have similar interests in tattoos ideas, but the majority will have differing views on what they like. With this being said there are some commonalities for tattoo ideas for girls as they will have more curves and be smaller on average than men are. You should combine a design with a location, as they will affect each other directly.

Here are a few popular body part tattoo locations.

There can be a similarity between body part tattoo ideas for girls and those for boys. There are however specific recommendations on body parts that on girls will look especially sexy.

Some places that girls love to put tattoos, and where they look really sexy, is a girls tattoo that is on the feet or ankle. The small tattoo designs look great on women's small ankles and feet. The added benefit of a tattoo design in this location is that it is easy to show off with a pair of sandals or open footwear, it is also an easy location to cover up with some shoes and socks.

Another great place to consider when choosing a tattoo idea for a girl would be the inner wrist. On the underside of the writs, you can place a small discreet tattoo that a girl could "show off" when she wanted to draw some extra attention. This type of tattoo can also be covered up easily.

You should also consider, weather a women or a man, a tattoo on the arms or upper back as they both look great on either sex. The arms are a great place to but a full, half or even quarter tattoo sleeves. Both of these are easy to show off with a short shirt or something that is backless, on the flip they are also easy to cover up for a work type situation.

There are also some places to avoid for girls more so then men. You will want to avoid any places where the skin will sag over time, as this will distort your tattoos making them look awful. Some specific areas to avoid would be breast tattoos and stomach tattoos.

The art to decorate yourself with tattoos is one of the most ancient and it exists for more than 6000 years. Tattoos appeared by accident: having noticed that after burns or cuts, in which soot or paint gets accidentally, fanciful and indelible pictures are left on the skin, people started to hurt themselves deliberately. In such a way tattoos have appeared.

Tattoo art started in Egypt and owing to numerous trade relations of Egypt with other countries tattoos soon appeared in Persia, Greece, Crete, etc. A tattoo served not only as a decoration, but as a sign of the tribe, showed the origin of a person, also a tattoo was used for a disguise and it was even endowed with magic force.

Today we are offered a great variety of pictures to make on the body. I personally don't have a tattoo, but a loyal friend of mine has several on his arms and back. He says that today it's possible to find a tattoo you like even through the Internet - in different online tattoo catalogues. Not long ago his girlfriend found in one of such catalogues an Egyptian tattoo she really liked, then she printed it and went to a good tattoo master, who made it on her shoulder. She remained satisfied.

My friend's girlfriend told me that far more convenient to find a tattoo on the Internet because it saves a lot of time. When she did her first tattoo she turned for help to a master and they spent about an hour looking through different pictures before she finally chose the one she liked. And certainly she was asked to pay for this hour, so looking through online catalogues of tattoos saves you money as well.

After I heard many stories and facts about tattoos from my friends and after I saw their tattoos I'm thinking over making a small pretty one on my loin. Yesterday I looked through tattoo designs on the Internet. I really like Celtic tattoos, but I haven't made up my mind to make it yet, I still hesitate.

Regardless of whether your new body art is an arm, back, or foot tattoo, you want to follow the same tattoo care guidelines as outlined below.

After receiving a new tattoo, your artist will apply an ointment, usually A&D, and wrap your tattoo in saran wrap or a medical bandage. This is to keep any foreign materials out of the tattoo. A new tattoo is a wound, an abrasion on the skin, and can be prone to infection proper tattoo care is not followed. So covering it for the first few hours is a normal procedure in most tattooing studios.

Remove the bandage from your new tattoo after at least 4 hours (but no more than 12). You should wait to remove the bandage until you can clean it with mild soap and warm water to remove any dried blood or ink that was left after that tattoo was finished. Do not soak the tattoo. Rinse it well, and pat it dry, then allow it to air-dry for 5-10 minutes before applying ointment. You should continue to wash your new tattoo at least 4 or 5 times a day for the first week.

Bacitracin regularly throughout the day, massaging a very small amount into the skin to keep the tattoo slightly moist, but not smothered blot off any excess. The healing tattoo should never stay submerged in water. This means that short showers are fine, but any kind of baths or swimming is not recommended. Do not re-bandage your tattoo after taking the original bandage off, the skin will need to breathe. Do not use any petroleum based products such as Vaseline - these will suck the ink out of your tattoo and cause it to fade. If you notice small itchy liquid filled bumps appearing after using a certain product, immediately discontinue use, wash the tattoo and let it dry out.

Proper tattoo care requires that you do not wear anything that will rub against your new tattoo. After receiving a foot tattoo make sure you do not wear socks, shoes, or nylons that will rub against it until it is fully healed. You need to plan ahead if your going to receive a foot tattoo on the sole because you should not walk on it until its healed. A foot tattoo may require a touch up, due to the rubbing abuse from walking and wearing shoes prematurely.

You should only apply ointment until your tattoo starts to peel (like a sunburn), which will be anywhere from 3 days to 1 week. When the peeling begins do not pick at it. When the tattoo has fully entered the peeling phase you should stop applying the ointment. The area will become dry and itchy, and a good lotion should help with this. Avoid creams and lotions that contain fragrances, artificial colors and other unnecessary ingredients that can irritate a healing tattoo. If you have applied proper tattoo care you should not develop scabs. If scabs develop, they can remove the color beneath them. It is very important that they are allowed to dry out completely. The scab will eventually fall off on its own. Never pick or pull the scab.

Your new tattoo is an open wound so refrain from actions such as swimming, tanning, removing the bandage early. Be sure to follow these proper tattoo care guidelines to ensure your foot tattoo heals properly. Your foot tattoo will be with you for a lifetime, and it only takes a week or two of your attention to keep it looking good forever.

Redness and sometimes bruising surrounding a new foot tattoo is normal for the first day or two, but if you notice any bumps or increasing redness please contact your local tattoo studio for more information.

Some artists would create extra design of Japanese characters or other symbols on the turtle shell to represent something. This is a great opportunity for the artist to put a tattoo within a tattoo.

This art does not mean you can only put Japanese characters on the shell. You can choose your own personal symbol if you want to add extra design on you turtle tattoos to make the design special and sacred.

Choosing turtle tattoos is a great choice since you can have other designs on it. The design is adaptable to other possible designs and you can have it as small and simple one or you can have it as large turtle tattoo with addition of extra designs on it.

Chinese Letters TattoosChinese Letters Tattoos
Tattoo making is an ancient art; born out of the quest for body beautification. This art had been popular with both the men and women of ancient times, and this has carried into the modern world as well. In different parts of the world men and women alike are getting tattoos done on their bodies. The inherent need is both beautification and also to express themselves and their ideas. A tattoo makes you stand out and sometimes become a part of your identification.
Chinese Letters TattoosChinese Letters Tattoos
If you are reading this, you are most probably going to get a tattoo or are thinking about getting one. It is a good thing to research properly and thoroughly before deciding on a tattoo in order to ensure lifetime satisfaction. There is a wide range of tattoos to select from. They contain images, phrases, lyrics, letters, characters, symbols and just your own name as well.

But the tattoo designs that have been gaining rapid popularity these days are the Chinese letters tattoos. So many people are getting one or more Chinese letters tattoos on their body. Mostly it is due to the beauty of the Chinese letters. The Chinese hieroglyphs are both mysterious and exquisite.
Chinese Letters Tattoos
The Chinese letters tattoos can say a lot more than the same number of letters can in any other alphabet.

The tattoos are made using needles to get the colored pigmentation under the skin. The result is permanent. Getting a tattoo is a painful process and the level of pain is directly related to how close to the bone it is. The closer to the bone the needle goes, the more painful it will be. A lot of care should be taken after getting a tattoo. The fresh tattoo should never be allowed to dry. It should be kept moist, otherwise some of the ink comes out and the design gets spoiled.

If you want to get Chinese letters tattoos, you should first take your time and research well. It's not a good idea to just get a tattoo because it looks good, you should also know what the tattoo means and if it is going with your personality. If you do not think carefully before getting a tattoo, chances are that you might later discover that you can no longer keep the tattoo as it is totally opposed to your personality and ideals. Instead of getting a tattoo and then getting it removed after a few years, it's better to spend sometime looking for the perfect one for you. Removing a tattoo is a far more painful process than putting it on. And the cost it incurs is very high as well.

Maori Tribal Tattoos
The Maori tribes are natives of New Zealand. Though, they are part of the Polynesian heritage, they have given themselves a distinct cultural heritage that historians have separated them from the different tribes of Polynesia.

It is very much the same for their tattoo designs. The Maori tribal tattoos have their own unique identity compared to their Polynesian counterparts. Their spirals and curved shapes form a very intricate pattern that very distinctive to the Maori tribes. Legend said that a young warrior learned the art of the Maori tribal tattoos from the lord of the underworld, after winning back the heart of the lord's daughter.

Maori Tribal Tattoos
For the Maori tribe, the tattoos are part of special rituals celebrating a particular or special event in one tribesman's life. A tribesman would receive his or her first tattoo as a rite of passage from childhood to adolescent and would be added whenever there are significant events in his or her life that would need to be celebrated. A tribesman that would be awarded with a tattoo would go into fasting before he or she was given a tattoo. During the ceremony itself, there would be music and chanting as it is a celebration not only for that particular tribesman but for the whole tribe itself.

Both men and women of the tribe can be awarded with a tattoo as a show of courage, strength and would be given a specific status in the tribe. The tattoos of the men in particular would cover the whole face while the women would only cover the cheeks and the lips, though sometimes the tattoos for the women would cover the neck as well.

It is said that the more tattoos a person have in his body, the higher his status is in their tribe. Tribesmen who do not have a tattoo in their bodies were considered worthless. Though women in the tribe have lesser tattoos in their bodies, it is mostly because they are not required to show much courage and strength and leave their men to it.
Maori Tribal Tattoos
Maori tribal tattoos
are mostly known for their face tattoos. But there are also tattoo designs that are used for the body specifically the legs and the buttocks. The body tattoos would be closely similar to the face tattoos with the small difference of the curves and spirals being bigger and more distinct than the face tattoos would be.

Tattoos Online
Tattoos Online
I love my tattoos and, like you, I want them to be the best tattoos ever designed. Just having the confidence to wear my tattoos proud is just enough for me and part of this was because I designed a tattoo online.

Thanks to the internet I was able to design a tattoo online that I still get compliments about. Before you get excited about designing your own tattoo online there are a few things that you have think about before you can get that perfect tattoo.

Tattoos OnlineTattoos Online
- You want the tattoo to be as unique as possible to have your own flavor so you can't trust free sites that say they have tattoo designs.

- When you search the internet for tattoo sites, try to stay open minded to the possibilities of your designs.

- Make sure they allow YOU to design your own tattoo or mix and match tattoos.

Now whatever your reason is for getting a tattoo you most definitely don't want a tattoo that your regretting and will later try to get removed. I remember my first tattoo when I walked into the tattoo parlor to see that huge tattoo binder filled with beautiful tattoos but they were all ones that people already had. When I asked the tattoo artist if he could make me one I had to set an appointment. I just could not do that so I decided to create my own tattoo online.

Designing my tattoo online was by far the best decision I made because I did not have to rush and the tattoo was perfect for me and best of all I was sure that nobody else had it. When I took my design to my tattoo artist he was surprised to see that I made such a unique tattoo without any artistic ability of any kind. Anybody can design your tattoo online even if you don't have any artistic abilities just add your own flavor and soul to it and you will most definitely love it.

Star Design TattoosStar Design Tattoos

Not many people think of having star tattoos done, but they can actually look quite good if they are designed properly. You may not think about it, but there are actually a variety of different shapes, sizes and types of star tattoos to choose from and each can look unique in its own way.

It is mainly women who choose to have a star tattoo done; after all, it is not a very manly image! Many women prefer to have the stars quite small on areas such as the hip, just above the breast or on their bottom. Some even like to have them on their ankles or on their neck. Generally though they are small, but it is entirely possible to have a large one covering the whole of your back if you prefer!

What Various Star Designs Mean

As well as looking pretty, star designs do tend to have different meanings. There are 4 pointed stars, 5 pointed stars, 6 pointed stars and so on and each has its own meaning. Some of the most popular pointed stars include:

  • The 4 Pointed Star

The 4 pointed stars are by far one of the most common stars designed today. The points are designed either extremely sharp or quite curvy, depending upon the individual's personal taste. It is thought that early American native tribes especially liked the 4 pointed stars and they used them on pottery and on rocks as well as in other parts of their lives. So, if you are interested in associating your tattoo with Native American culture, these may just be for you.

  • The 5 Pointed Star

If you choose a 5 pointed star, you are usually generally into things such as pagan, the devil or pentagrams. These are another extremely common design and they do have a lot of history behind them. Most types of 5 pointed stars are associated with a dark meaning so if you do not want that, it would be better to have a more comical 5 pointed star design and perhaps stick with a pentacle instead.

  • The 8 Pointed Star

The 8 pointed stars are not generally as common as the others, but it does have a lot of meaning behind them. It is the symbol of the cross of Saint John and it was the emblem of the Knights of Malta. They used the star to symbolize each of the knight's virtues and those were Tact, Perseverance, Gallantry, Loyalty, Dexterity, Explicitness, Observation and Sympathy. These days the design is common with fire-fighters across America.

Flower Tribal Tattoos
Feminine tribal tattoos are on the rise and with that increasing popularity it is becoming more common to see females branding a Hawaiian flower tattoo instead of other typical "pretty tattoos." Like all flower tattoos there are classical meanings behind the flowers and there are also typically designs such as tribal that these Hawaiian flowers are commonly found immortalized within. So what is the meaning behind these tattoos and why could this be the perfect feminine tribal tattoo?

Those who have decided to seek the Hawaiian flower instead of a rose or another common flower are making a great decision. It encompasses all the feminine beauty of any other flower with a unique twist. This flower tattoo is typically found in tribal form. Instead of the bright flowy colours we tend to see in flower tattoos it is usually made with big bold black lines, in a more tribal form. It can be added to beautiful other Hawaiian tribal designs such as the sea turtle, mountains and other well known Hawaiian symbols.

These flowers stand for friendship and hospitality just like the Hawaiian people. Another popular Hawaiian flower choice is the lei. These beautiful flowers are found in bright colourful presentations all over the bodies of both men and women. There are also those who have permanently inked these beautiful flowers in lei's around their necks, to symbolize the hospitality and friendship that is presented by Hawaiian natives to visitors to their island. For those who choose the exotic form of the Hawaiian flower tattoo you can ensure it is one to be proud of and to wear happily.

Temp Tattoos
Temp Tattoos
Angelina Jolie had once a nice tattoo inscription on her right arm, reading: Bob Thornton (actor and former husband of Ms Jolie). 50 Cent, the coolest rapper ever, had to remove a bunch of his tattoo designs (in particular those on his arms) not to hamper his own Hollywood career. Haydin Panettiere has a nice tattoo inscription on her hip, reading: "Vivere senza rimipianti", which is Italian and supposed to mean: living without regret.

You've passed by them on the streets or at the mall and you have looked in curiosity and possibly turned away in disgust. You know what I mean--they are the teens of today--what used to be the fringe, the counterculture, who have now become more mainstream, the ones with the nose rings and pierced tongues. You silently wonder "how can they eat like that or blow their noses?" And then your 16-year-old daughter returns from school one day talking about her friend Mallory's new navel ring. She thinks it's cool and wants one. You are dead-set against the idea, but how do you handle this situation?

Some teens respond positively to "Not as long as your under my roof" and they wait until they move out or go to college. Other teens may say "Well then I'll just leave," and will move out. According to Woodinville, Washington, therapist, Elaine Pool, "You know your teen best." You should know what kind of limits work and what kind of limits don't. If your teen is one with whom you can reason, ask her to help you research the topic, and if after the research it still seems like a good idea, then you can negotiate.

Research the topic together and get all the facts, including sitting in on one someone else's procedure so you and your teen get a realistic picture of what happens. What exactly is body piercing? Body piercing is the creating of a hole, with a needle, in a part of the skin in order to wear a ring or stud through that part. This part of the skin may be the navel, eyebrow, nostril, septum, ear, nipple, tongue, etc. The holes created for body piercing are permanent, even if after the first year, the person never wears the body jewelry again.

In addition to the permanency, piercings are associated with dangerous health risks. Body piercings can become painfully infected. And, according to Dr. Absar H. Haaris, of St. Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia, getting a body piercing "increases one's risk for Hepatitis B and/or C" and HIV/AIDS. The increased risk is so great that the American Red Cross and regional blood banks have started to refuse blood donations from people with body piercings.

The desire to remove tattoos has been around just about as long as their existence. Recent technological advances in lasers have now made it possible to remove tattoos without leaving an equally undesirable scar. You may have seen creams marketed to remove tattoos; some are currently being investigated for their effectiveness, but there isn't a great deal evidence for them as yet. Early attempts to remove tattoos have had less than worthwhile results. Early attempts to remove tattoos included sanding, cutting, or burning of the skin, which resulted in scarring.

A tattoo is meant to be for life. Unfortunately, what a customer might want these days may not be what they want in two or even twenty years time. Both the procedure and cost of acquiring a tattoo are relatively minor in comparison to having it removed at a later date. It may be wise to bear these facts in mind in before visiting your local tattoo artist with design and cash in hand.

Two of the most commonly used methods for removing an unwanted tattoo are also two of the most unsatisfactory. The first method involves removing a piece of skin from a less-noticeable area of your body and grafting it over the tattoo. This strange sort of "plastic surgery approach" covers up the tattoo but also leaves scar tissue as the skin is no longer in it's normal state.

Another method is to go to a tattoo artist and have a different design tattooed on top of the unwanted one. With this course of action, the black outline from the original tattoo can be noticeable around the new one; the larger the original, and the more black ink it has, the more difficult it will be to cover it up.

A surgical method which is just as unsatisfactory is called dermabrasion. In layman's term, you can think of it as rubbing at your skin with sandpaper. Even if this method is performed by a licensed doctor, you will likely conclude that the resulting scar is worse than the original tattoo. The reason for the scarring is that removing a tattoo with this method will entail going throughout the tattoo and the underlying skin. The scarring left by this method will most likely leave that portion of your skin a much lighter color and a different texture to the skin surrounding it. Of all the tattoo removal methods currently in use, dermabrasion will leave the most noticeable scarring.

Black Tribal Tattoos

Black Tribal Tattoos
Tattoos are believed to be a modern phenomenon adopted by the liberalized young generation that is mostly found in big cities around the world. Most parents still advise their teenagers against getting tattooed. Surprisingly most of the tattoo designs used widely today date back to many years before the present civilization. These are what are referred to as tribal tattoos.

Tribal Butterfly Tattoo

Tribal butterfly tattoo designs can be some of the most amazing and sexy designs you can choose. I know quite a few women who have them and most of them are top notch. There are some individuals who end up settling for generic artwork that doesn't come out very good, which is a real shame. Here is the truth about a lot of the tattoos on the web, as well as how to locate the truly great stuff on your journey.

I will also tell you about the number one reason most people keep running into the same generic content over and over again. The number one reason is actually the starting point for most people and you most likely use them to look for tribal butterfly tattoo designs. I am talking about search engines. That's right. Search engines might be the ultimate tool at finding most things in a split second, but this is not even close to being the case when it comes to finding the quality artwork on the web. Notice that I used the exact word "quality". That is the main point that we all need to realize when on your quest to find tribal butterfly tattoo designs. Search engines are notorious for pull up nothing but the same generic, cookie-cutter websites out here. It doesn't matter which styles of tattoos you are search for. It could be tribal butterfly tattoo designs, or it can be tattoos of suns. All that seems to pull up is websites that are overloaded with generic art.
Tribal Butterfly Tattoo
The artwork I am talking about is usually over seven years old and most of it is already plastered on hundreds of other websites over the years. There is not chance of there being any sort of originality in any of those types of tribal butterfly tattoo designs, or any tattoos you may be looking for. Not only that, but most of the generic artwork out there wasn't even really drawn to be made into real tattoos. Most of it was made my artists back in the day that had no clue that their image would be used for tattoos. Most of the artists did not draw them so that they would come out good when used as tattoos. Heck, most of the artists don't have any real knowledge about tattoos to begin with. Those are not the kinds of tribal butterfly tattoos you want to settle for.

If you really want to be able to find your way to the quality tribal butterfly tattoo designs out there, then you will need to change your searching ways a little bit. It is actually a very simple transition. All that really needs to happen is for you to utilize internet forums instead of relying on search engines for a brief time. Not only will it save you a bunch of time in the long run, but the quality of websites you will be able to find will be well worth it in a multitude of ways. Forums are simply loaded with unique insider information on tattoos and the hidden websites that tend to have the quality artwork that you just can't seem to locate when using Google or Yahoo. I love forums for this reason and many other people do also. Finding tribal butterfly tattoo designs through forums does work and this goes for any tattoo you might be considering.
